We arrived
into Melbourne in glorious sunshine where the ship docks right in town and even
sat on deck after some early breakfast! At 09.30 we left the ship and were met by the Shaw family (Derek, Lorinda, Lucas and Zac). Derek had worked with Gillian at The Amersham School. Derek had borrowed one of the school mini bus and so we began our tour of Melbourne!
We visited all the
main sites and also some of the less well-known places and found it a great
City to visit. Everywhere seemed to be vibrant and busy with many bars,
restaurants and entertainment options to visit.
The
Melbourne Cup, the biggest horse race in Australia is in 2 days time and this
is effectively a 4 day weekend. Added to this the weather being in the mid 80’s
meant that locals were out to play!
The boys
were excellent and walked miles and only needed the odd bribe of food and then
ice cream to keep them going! We were also reminded that going out with young
children means constant toilet stops!
It was a fun day and
we are very appreciative to them all and will see them again in 4 weeks when we
return to Melbourne
Your pictures of your visit to Melbourne are really great and it seemsreally good place to visit
