Mermaids and sponges

As part of this year and travelling we want to visit parts of the US we haven't been. This was on our doorstep a couple of hours from Orlando. Here at Weeki Wachee (yes someone had obviously been smoking something) the site of a natural 500ft spring there was a mermaid display. This sounds awful and tacky and to an extent it was but the kids that did were brilliant.

The gardens had some peacocks and for the first time we saw the male peacock show off to the females, it was fantastic

Then a short boat trip down the river created by the spring and as the water is so pure the water was incredibly clear so you could see lots of wildlife.

Finished the day in Tarpon Springs, the 'world capital' of sponge harvesting. What a weird place that was!
