Akaora New Zealand

We arrived in Akaora  and got the tender to shore.
It is a very nice, picturesque  town although small and we went for a very long walk up the hills using footpaths. We did in fact get lost and found ourselves in a farmer’s field with lots of sheep.
The views we had on the walk were fabulous.
The abundance of flowers and colour were incredible considering it is only spring. We treated ourselves to ice cream when we got back into town as we deserved it.

The town has a French heritage although we thought it was a mix of Cornwall and Scotland. We would have liked to have stayed longer.

We also walked along the front away from the town and to our surprise what we thought was rock was volcanic ash embedded into the ground, this appeared to be very unstable as you could just rub it and it would break away from the face of the cliff.
