FJORDLAND

This morning we got up at 630 as we were entering Milford Sound. It was quite spectacular and the photos as usual do not do it justice.
However the fact that the sun was shining and they get 7metres of rain a year means we were fortunate to stay dry.
The Captain and Pilot took the boat as close to the waterfall as they possibly could, it was only 40 metres away and you really felt you could reach out and touch it.

We then ventured out into the Tasman Sea down to Thompson Sound which goes into Doubtful Sound. The weather had deteriorated as we moved down the coast, it was cold and breezy but we did see dolphins so that helped make up for the weather.
Doubtful  Sound was different  and you did not feel as enclosed.

Then we went further south to a passage that led us into Dusky sound. The colours of the mountains and rocks were unbelievable and again photos do not do it justice. We did spot a bit of blue sky which again changed the colours of the scenery around us.
Captain James Cook who came down here and found the ‘Fjordland’ must have been an incredible human being!
