Nashville to Savannah

We were up early to pick up our rental car and did a small deviation to visit the Jack Daniels distillery, it was really interesting and informative.

Here we saw how they make their own charcoal used in the process. Unfortunately there was no photography allowed in the production area but we had a great time and learned a lot about the process. We found it amazing that in a place as small as this and the countryside around is basically farming that a global brand as iconic as Jack Daniels would be found.

Gillian particularly liked the Christmas tree created from whiskey barrels!

We then hit the road for Savannah a place that Gillian has always wanted to visit.....it was a long drive, some nice scenery although at times the speed of the trucks was astounding. We were doing 75mph and they were speeding past! We drove through Atlanta just before rush hour, this was interesting as the freeway goes right throught the heart of the city. The drive when the sun went down was quite tough but we made it to our hotel in Savannah by 8pm having driven 550 miles.......we needed a beer!
