Pearl Harbour

This morning we went to visit the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbour which had held services yesterday as it was the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbour on 7th December 1941.

We learnt that the USA Commanders at this time did not see why they needed to use
radar, and believed it was their own planes coming back to Oahu earlier than anticpated.

The Arizona still leaks oil, nine quarts of oil a day and this will continue for about another 70 years.

We then went on another Hawaii drive o's to the east and north coast as the winds were up and the news told us the waves would be high. We drove all the way up the east coast which was very sheltered and no waves but as we came round the north of the island the sea changed.

There was a big surf tournament on today and the traffic was bad but luckily we were going in the other direction.

This evening we went to an Hawaiian Luau ......mmmmm not sure about it, for tourists remember Spanish BBQ's???
