Peruvian Prancing Horses

Arrived into the port of Callao, gateway to Lima. The weather was hot and sunny and we sat on deck until it was time for our tour.
Started visiting an historical museum showing that civilisations had been around here for thousands of years. Museum located in a nice square.

Then to the ruins of a massive city which they call Pachacmac…or Pacamac as we called it!!. It was probably too ruined or we lack imagination but apparently there were pyramids and canals and a thriving population. It was hard work not just to see a load of bricks mostly covered by sand (it NEVER rains here!)

Then the highlight of the tour, we were taken to a hacienda and given a demonstration of local dancing and a show from some Peruvian prancing horses. Thankfully there were copious amounts of alcohol and this made for a great show!  Being serious this was not on KY’s ‘looking forward to this list’ but it was very good.

Dinner in the hacienda with plenty more alcohol before the return back to the ship which remains here overnight. The coach ride back was funny as people were in a wine infused party mood so it was a sing song and joke session!
