LIMA in Darkest Peru

The ship had an ‘over-nighter’ at the port of Lima and we therefore had a further opportunity to visit the City. It has had a pretty turbulent recent past and therefore some of the infrastructure needs work but the restoration of buildings is taking place with buildings being repainted in their original colours.

The city has no litter as if you want to claim unemployment benefit you have to work for it sweeping the streets. It certainly seemed to work as the streets were litter free.

We visited the main square, the cathedral and a monastery before having a drink at one of the last remaining original houses in the Miraflores area. The owner of the house was a wonderful lady who was very proud and rightly so!
We finished the tour at Lovers Park overlooking the ocean before heading back to the ship.
