Puerto Montt

We were up and off early for a full day tour in this lovely town in Chile that looks similar to Scotland and Switzerland. The weather unfortunately started off distinctly Scottish….rain!  We drove inland to a lake formed by glaciers and dammed by volcanic outpourings. The volcano unfortunately sat in the clouds so we were unable to quite make out its peak.

We had lunch in a Swiss Chalet looking hotel and by this time the weather had cheered up and the views were much better.
We sampled local Chilean wine and their speciality cocktail-Pesco Sour.

In the afternoon we stopped at some waterfalls formed by the volcanic activity before having a walk around the local town that was very quaint.

We learned a lot about Chile today…the length of the country is the equivalent of Norway to Morocco and is the world’s largest producer of copper and second largest of salmon, there is little unemployment and a stable government. Crikey this bog is getting boring!
