Amelia Glacier

Overnight we moved into the Chilean fjords and spent the morning passing beautiful scenery at times so close you could almost touch it.

Although it is cool again we were blessed with sunny skies.

The highlight of the day was the Amelia Glacier and the ice fields, the second largest in the world. Notice the submarine...those Russians are clever at disguise.

The ship went as close as possible to the glacier before spinning around and our cabin at the very back of the ship gave us three wonderful opportunities. We saw penguins on ice bergs and ‘calving’ of the glacier where it breaks off and hits the sea.

The captain announced that so far the weather was the best he had experienced in this region.

Leaving the glacier the best seats on the ship were in our cabin as we were able to watch it fade into the distance.

Awesome is an overused expression but it was!
