Smoky Mountains

After a strange evening meal in Athens we slept well and were up and ready for the next leg of the trip. Today we headed for the Smoky Mountains crossing from Georgia into South Carolina and then Tennessee.

The highest we reached was just over 6,500 feet but by then we were in the clouds so we came down to a lower elevation to check out the views!

We drove another 250 miles today so we have almost covered 700 since leaving Florida.

America at times can seem a strange country although we are sure that the UK is too!

You can be driving through beautiful country (yes with more churches than people) and then come across a load of dumped cars by the side of the road that have obviously been there an awful long time. How is this allowed?

One stop en-route was Cherokee, the home of the Native Indian Tribe. It could and should have been such a pretty place but it was pretty tacky.

We spent the afternoon in the mountains

before heading for Ashville where we will spend 2 nights........not too much driving tomorrow!
